LOOK AT ME!

Take a close look at me
See how my eyes
glitter with tears
See how my nose
sniffs off the fluid
See how my lips
quiver from anguish
See how my cheek bones
sag in sadness
See how my ears
are deaf from excuses
Look at me

Look at my inside
with the microscope
My trust has been betrayed
My self-pride trampled under
My feelings torn to shreds
My care piled in the trash bin
My love translated into a joke
Look at me

Look at me now
They put it all on me
She leaves like it doesn't hurt
She doesn't care like it doesn't matter
She looks at me and misses the effects
She relates but it seems to be hypocrisy
She didn't look close enough

But you should
You should look into my eyes
and see the story they tell
You should
Look at my lips
and say what they were limited to say
You should look at my cheek bones
and be able to tell how often they go sad
You should look inside me
and see how it aches to let that part of you
go to the least deserved
You should look into me
and see the burning flames of anguish
and extinguish them
You should see all these
and put my heart to peace
Look at me!
